scanner 17 error

Every once in a while, I get an error message when scanning.  It says Scanning Error 17.  I'm directed to shut the printer and try again.  After I reboot the printer, it works.  I do a lot of scanning so this can be pretty annoying all day.

I also recieve this error regularly on my LaserJet Pro MFP M476dn. It is very annoying having to shut down then wait for the whole unit to reinitialise.

What is the cause please?

Did anyone ever get to the bottom of this? bought a new MFP Colour laserjet 4 weeks ago and it's locked out whenever I try to scan or copy.

Some time I have scanner error. 13 or 17 I try every thing like shut down remove cable but there is no news same error I change the cartridge with new one but same error my hp is laser jet pro MFP M225dn
So if any one have to now how to solve this issue

My errors just went away over time. I put it down to upgrading my verstion of Mac OS or perhaps the version of Easy Scan I was running. Makes me think it isn't the hardware.

Nos modelos m277 o processo é simples.

1º Você terá que abrir a tampa lateral desconectar os Cabos: Scanner e ADF, reconectar e ligar a maquina.

2º Caso isso não resultar desmonte o Conjunto Scanner da máquina, separe o a mesa do Scanner do ADF, e remove a lampada de scanner para verificar se há carretos quebrados ou se os mesmo não emgrenam em condições. Verifique também o motor e o Sensor, Caso for necessário substitua.

3º Se o Erro persistir contacte um Tecnico qualificado pela HP ou Support HP.

OBS: Cuidado para não danificar a lampada ao desmontar.

On some HP machine models, such as the M477, error 17 is not always caused by Scanner malfunction, this error may be displayed on the panel when the engine running the "Image and Contact Sensor" CIS (the Scanner Lamp ), has a broken gear, making it difficult to move the Scanner. But already in some models with the M375, M475 and M476, we can add the same, but in these models the error is caused by the Scanner, later may appear a different code like 16, when this happens, replace the scanner set.

On m277 models the process is simple.

1º You will have to open the side cover disconnect the cables: Scanner and ADF, reconnect and turn on the machine.

2 If this does not work, disassemble the Scanner Assembly from the machine, separate the scanner table from the ADF, and remove the scanner lamp to check for broken spools or if they do not mesh in condition. Also check the motor and sensor, if necessary replace.

3 If the error persists contact an HP Qualified Technician or HP Support.

NOTE: Be careful not to damage the lamp when disassembling.
