Hi @JLP273,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Error code 13 on an HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw usually indicates a scanner failure. This error can occur due to various reasons, such as a hardware issue or a software problem. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.
- Restart the printer: Turn off the printer, unplug the power cord, wait for about 30 seconds, and then plug it back in. Power on the printer and check if the error persists.
- Check for paper jams: Open the scanner lid and check for any paper jams or obstructions in the scanner area. Remove any paper or debris that might be causing the issue.
- Verify scanner connections: Ensure that all cables connected to the scanner module are securely plugged in. If any cables appear loose, disconnect and reconnect them firmly.
- Update printer firmware: Visit the HP support website (www.support.hp.com) and search for your printer model. Download and install any available firmware updates for your printer. Updated firmware can often fix known issues and improve performance.
- Perform a factory reset: On the printer control panel, navigate to the Setup menu and locate the "Restore Defaults" option. Perform a factory reset and check if the error is resolved. Keep in mind that this will reset any customized settings to their default values.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
