Hey my printer keeps saying there is a scanner failure and to restart the printer and if it persists then there's a scanner. Everytime I restart the printer, it loads up and then makes these violent snapping sounds and then the scanner failure comes up again.
Do any of you have an idea on how to fix this or if that means the scanner is toast. Warranty expired. Thanks in advance.

A warm welcome to HP forums! This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries.
As per this document, power resetting the printer is the only possible solution to resolve Scanner failure error. Let's try these step's:
1) Make sure this printer is plugged into a direct wall, not a surge protector
2) Remove all of your ink cartridges from the printer and close the door
3) Remove the power cord from the back of the printer (Do no press the power button)
4) Plug the power cord back into the printer
5) Wait for the printer to turn on completely, then install the ink cartridges.
Let me know how it goes!
