Scanner is not working while printer is going good

The full feature printer driver provides scanning support. 

Go here and enter the serial number or exact model of your printer and select software.

Select your OS.  If Windows 11 is missing you can go back as far as Windows 7, 64bit.

Look for full feature printer driver.  Alternately it may be identified as "For Offline use".  It will be the largest printer driver in size.  Install it.  If there are scanning drivers then get those also. but the printer driver needs to be installed first.  The scanning drivers may include tools such as optical character recognition or simply be universal drivers for scanning that rely on the printer driver to do the actually connection.  If there are no scanning tools then these tools may work, but OCR is optional.

If using the new HP App or the older HP Smart to scan, be sure it can log into your HP account. 

Alternatives to Scanning Without an HP Account

• Full Feature Software: Download and install the offline HP Full Feature Software and Driver package for your specific printer model from the official support site, which includes the classic HP Scan tool without a login requirement.

• Built-in OS Tools: Use native operating system applications like Windows Fax and Scan or Windows Scan on Windows, or Apple Image Capture / Preview on macOS.

• Third-Party Software: Use universal scanning utilities like NAPS2 (Not Another PDF Scanner 2) or VueScan

Problems that can prevent scanning

Some HP printers may no longer scan if low on ink or a cartridge or toner is missing.

HP+ printers will no longer function of they are off line. 

Many HP printer will no longer function if not using genuine HP ink.
