After the holidays, my scanner has stopped working.  I've done all of my software updates and the printer still prints and copies just fine, but it says it cannot detect the scanner.  I've done everything I know to do, including downloaded the most recent printer drivers available and it still won't detect it.  Anybody else have this issue or can provide a solution?

It's unfortunate to hear that your HP 4155-e scanner is not working after the holidays. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.

 

Check Connection:

  • Ensure that the scanner is properly connected to your computer or network. If it's a USB connection, try using a different USB port or cable.
  • If the scanner is connected wirelessly, check the Wi-Fi connection and make sure it's stable.

Restart Devices:

  • Restart both your computer and the HP 4155-e printer/scanner. Sometimes, a simple reboot can resolve connectivity issues.

Reinstall Drivers:

  • Uninstall the current printer/scanner drivers from your computer and reinstall the latest drivers from the official HP website. Make sure you download the correct drivers for your operating system.

Firmware Update:

  • Check if there is a firmware update available for your HP 4155-e printer/scanner. Firmware updates can address bugs and improve device functionality.

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor:

  • HP provides a diagnostic tool called HP Print and Scan Doctor. Download and run this tool to automatically diagnose and resolve printing and scanning problems. It can be downloaded from the HP support website.

Check for Windows Updates:

  • Ensure that your operating system is up to date with the latest Windows updates. Sometimes, compatibility issues can be resolved with system updates.

Verify Scanner Settings:

  • Check the scanner settings to ensure that it's configured correctly. Look for any settings related to scanner detection or connectivity in the printer/scanner menu.

Firewall/Antivirus:

  • Temporarily disable your firewall or antivirus software to see if they might be blocking the scanner. If the scanner works after disabling them, you may need to add an exception for the scanner in the firewall/antivirus settings.

 

Remember to back up important files and settings before making significant changes to your system.
