My printer was scanning fine for a year or so and now it won't. I have unplugged everything and turned everything on and off several times. This has been going on for a couple of days. I use Wifi to connect my printer to the computer. THe wifi is fine.

It sounds like your HP printer’s scanning function has stopped working, even though printing and Wi-Fi connectivity are fine. This usually points to a software or communication issue rather than hardware. Here’s how to fix it:

Step 1: Restart Devices

  • Power off the printer and your computer.
  • Unplug the printer for 60 seconds, then reconnect and turn it on.
  • Restart your computer and router.


Step 2: Check the HP App or HP Scan


Step 3: Reinstall Full Feature Software

  • Go to Official HP® Support.
  • Enter your printer model and download the Full Feature Software (not just the basic driver).
  • Install and restart your computer.


Step 4: Verify Scan Settings

  • In the HP app or HP Scan, ensure the correct destination folder is selected.
  • If using macOS or Windows, check permissions for the app.
