Hi @lisadslw,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I am sorry to hear that  your scanner is not using the document feeder but can still copy documents from it, you might be dealing with a specific scanning configuration issue. I would request you to please follow the steps:

Check ADF Settings

  • In the HP Smart app, make sure you’ve selected Document Feeder as the source.
  • Some apps default back to “Flatbed” (glass) after each scan, so recheck before scanning.

Update HP Smart App

  • Ensure you’re running the latest version of the HP Smart app on your PC or mobile device.
  • Outdated apps may not properly recognize the feeder.

Update Printer Firmware

  • Go to HP’s support site and download the latest firmware for the Smart Tank 6000.
  • Firmware updates often fix scanning source recognition issues.

Reset Printer

  • Power off the printer, unplug it for 60 seconds, then restart.
  • This clears temporary memory glitches.

Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  • Solution: Uninstall and then reinstall the printer drivers from the HP Support website. Ensure you are using the correct drivers for your printer model.

Hope this helps, Please revert if the issue persists.

Take care and have an amazing day!
