i have a 20 page document in my computer can i transfer it to printer and have it convert it to a Word Document. or can it scan from my computer and turn it into a word document . i don't want to print 20 pages then scan one by one. what is the easy way to do this?

Hi,
OCR is available as part of the HP Scan Software, included with your printer's Full Feature Software and Drivers.
Click the HP Officejet 6700 icon and click on Scan a Document or Photo, then select Save as Editable Text (OCR).
If you don't see an HP Officejet 6700 icon, or don't see a Save as Editable Text (OCR option within the HP Scan application, follow HP Print and San Doctor by selecting Fix Scanning, to make sure the Full Feature HP Software is installed on your PC:

yes i understand that... however i have a 20 page document on my computer that i want it to become a word document. i am wanting to be able to convert it without having to print it and put on scanner one page at a time. can i send it to copier and have it converted or can i have copier go to my document files and get it and convert it?

Your HP Software provided with your printer offers to scan to OCR when scanning from the HP Scan software only, it does not offer any OCR capabilities to convert existing documents.
For such, there are dedicated programs such as IRIS Pro that provide such capabilities, such are not offered by the HP Printer software provided with your printer.
There are applications such as IRIS OCR which provides such capabilities:

You may also try the freeware NAPS2 program which may allow converting existing files to OCR, but only to PDF, which you may copy it content to a Word document:
