unable to launch HP Smart

I am using a 2600 printer
suddenly from one day to the next I can only print directly, I cannot start HPSmart in order to scan
on launching HP Smart I get a screen asking me to sign in but after entering email/password I get only this error message UU500_E0044A0022

I had the same problem directly following a Windows update. I was able to access the HP Smart account by searching for the app (Not using "Recent") and selecting "App Settings". Try scrolling down to the "Reset" category and trying "Repair" and if that doesn't work (it didn't for me) reset the app. This worked to allow me to open HP Smart, but did not fix my ability to scan as my computer registers as connected, but when I try to print it says it's not connected, even though it only recognizes it because it's connected... If that's what happens to you as well, I have no idea how to fix it.
