deskjet f4180

Hi there

I  have an old deskjet f4180 without inks, which  I want to use purely for scanning, but I keep getting an error message  that there are no inks present. Is there anyway to bypass this  so I can just use the scanning feature ?

Thanks

@paul9415,

Thank you for posting this on HP Support Forums!

I see from your post that you need information and assistance related to your HP DeskJet Printer. Don't worry I'll be glad to help you.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Do you have the full feature software installed on the PC? What is the Operating system installed? Is it Windows or Mac

Have you tried to scan from the HP Printer software.

Answering to your question, Is there anyway to bypass this, unfortunately, there is no option to skip this alert from the printer.

In the meantime, I would suggest you could try and check if this helps:

Load the paper on the scanner glass.

Now open the HP Printer software and then click on Scan.

Please check if you are able to scan or do you get the same error message.

If you still get the error, I would recommend you contact our HP support team for further assistance.

HP support can be reached on www.hp.com/contacthp

Select the product type.

Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.

Select the country from the drop-down.

You should see the HP phone support number or Chat option listed.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

If you wish to show appreciation for my efforts, mark my post as Accept as Solution. Your feedback counts!

Cheers!
