I just finished scanning some documents in the hp smart app on my laptop, by placing the documents on my printers glass, scanning them and then saving them to my desktop. i scanned all 13 pages as pdfs but I need them to be jpegs. I'm not able to change the file type from the desktop so I went back into the hp smart app and they don't appear anywhere. Does anyone know where they're located or a way to change the file type without me having to rescan all 13 documents to make them jpegs?

I'd really appreciate anyone's advice, this is driving me nuts

Thanks guys

Lyn

Welcome to the HP English Community --

The scanned content is not saved inside the HP Smart application after that content is scanned and saved to your device.

This includes whether the content is scanned and saved as one file type or another -- the app does not "hold" the content after the job completes.

You cannot change the file structure from PDF to JPEG by simply changing the file type name.

That means saved PDF files cannot be made into image files by changing the File Type from .PDF to .JPG

==================================================

How Saved?  (File Type)

You do not have to re-scan the content.

You do have to open the file(s) and create a "snipped" image of the data in the format you want it done.

For example,

Open the PDF file

View the page at 100% of the actual size

"Snip" what is displayed on the screen

Save that content as an image ( .jpg ) file.

Snip – available since Vista! Check out the “delay” feature in Windows 10

==================================================

Where Saved?

"Desktop" might refer to one of two locations.

If, when you clicked to Save the content, you did not change the default (displayed) file location,

AND

If that location was "Desktop", then the file data was (is) perhaps saved in the Desktop folder.

"Desktop" in this context display as icons on the backdrop of the screen.

Right-Click on a clear area your display screen > Select View > Select "Show desktop icons"

AND / OR

"Desktop" is also a "folder" and can be accessed from your Windows account as such.

Open File Explorer > Go to your account > Check the folders listed -

Desktop

Documents

Pictures

(Possibly) OneDrive

and others...

==================================================

What else?

Desktop might refer to your computer / device.

In this instance, it would have been necessary to select -- or at least accept -- the current default file folder destination as part of the Save action.

Where to check?

Possibly "OneDrive" -- search / check for a "Documents" sub-folder.

True - depending on any previous save actions to OneDrive, the sub-folder might be Pictures or simply "HP Smart"
