Printer works fine for DUPLEX printing.   When I try to DUPLEX SCAN, it scans the first side, and then the paper gets stuck when it should turn over and scan the other side.

I do not see where you mentioned your printer model or operating system/version.

If you did, I may have missed it, or your post failed to include that information.

Scanning and Printing use different parts of the printer.

For example,

If your printer supports automatic 2-sided scanning,

and

If the paper size, type, weight, and number of pages loaded in the automatic document feeder (ADF) are supported,

AND

If the printer is clean, including the ADF mechanism - the printer is ready to do its best work,

and

If the submission application / software is set up / adjusted correctly,

and

If the (PDF) content can be translated into printer language that the printer can use.

Then

In general, the printer would load and scan one side of the sheet and then the other side.

--  What can go wrong? --

  • Any or all of the mentioned items for the paper - that is, something about the paper is not supported
  • A dirty ADF or faulty hardware (broken hardware is less likely than other causes, certainly possible).
  • A poor network connection (f the job is being relayed via an app or software on your device (computer, tablet, phone)
  • Unrecognized content on the page that becomes "stuck" -- perhaps less likely, though can happen.  All content in the scan must be translated to something the printer understands (for PDF scanning).

Hi @Laschi,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand your printer isn’t duplex‑printing or scanning. Could you please share the serial number so we can check if the duplex function is switched on?

Please help us with the Product serial number or the product number in a private message for further assistance.

Here is the link to find the product serial number: - Click here
