Internal processing error when attempting to scan

Hi, I always use the scan to email function and this has worked perfectly well until today! It says there is an internal processing error? I have unplugged waited a minute and allowed to reset but still this message. There is nothing on the touchscreen menu that allows me to update any software and there is nothing on the HP Smart app that I can see either? WiFi connection is excellent. Can anyone explain in basic terms what to do? Thanks in advance x
