My internet keeps disconnecting. Im connected through ethernet(brighthouse). I already called them and its not a problem on their end. I see Wifi works good and steady but ethernet It seems like a manufacturer problem concerning connection. It seems like its trying to connect to wifi but i disabeled wifi because desktop kept switching connections. Since I disabeled connections it now connects to enternet then disconnects periodically throughout the day. Then reconnects. This is a problem because I work crom home. What can i do to keep my connection connected?

Thank you for joining HP Forums.

I'll be glad to help you 🙂

As I understand the wired internet keeps disconnecting on its own,

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

Did you check if the wireless network works since the wired isn't?

Have you attempted to update the drivers for your ethernet port and chipset?

Did you try updating the BIOS?

How and why did you disable the WiFi?

While you respond to that, here's a few things you could do:

Step 1: Completing the network connection checklist

Use the following checklist to solve many problems with home networks in Windows 8:

  • Check all of the network cables and wires. A loose or disconnected cable or wire prevents a network connection and Internet access. Check the following connections:

    • Network cable from the modem to the network hub (or router).

    • Network cable from the network hub to the RJ-45 network port on the computer.

Figure : Shape of RJ-45 connector

    • Network cable between two computers.

  • Check the lights on the network hub. The lights can often show the location of a connection problem.

  • If you are trying to connect to another computer on the network, make sure that computer is turned on.

  • Check the firewall settings on all the computers on the network. The firewall settings may be preventing network access.

After performing the items in the checklist, try to connect to the network.

If you do not experience further problems with the network, you are done.

If you are still experiencing problems with the network, check the network status.

Step 2: Checking the network status in the Network and Sharing Center

Follow these steps to use the Network and Sharing Center to check the network status and to connect to a network manually in Windows 8:

  1. At the Start screen, type Control Panel to open the Search charm, and then select Control Panel in the Search results.
