I can’t get my sprocket to turn on or print I’ve had it for one year and only used it twice it’s out of warranty what do I do?  Has anyone had this issue before? How could the battery have died with two uses?

  • I have used my sprocket a total of two times in a little over a year and a half of the time I’ve had it I charged it twice and have printed about maybe 5 pictures total I went to turn it on the other day and the battery flashed and then won’t turn on after left on the charger for a while. I can’t get it to work or connect to my app it’s telling me battery died. Here’s a picture of my sprocket info. IMG_4266.jpeg

Hi @shendrix05 ,

Thank you foe your reply

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Sprocket 200 printer battery fail after such minimal use. Here’s a step-by-step approach to try and resolve the issue:

1. Check the Charger and Cable

  • Ensure the charging cable and adapter you're using are working properly. Test them with another device or use a different, compatible charger and cable.
  • Avoid using low-power USB ports, like those on a computer; use a wall charger instead.

2. Perform a Hard Reset

  • With the printer plugged into power, hold the Power Button for about 7 seconds to force a reset.
  • Release the button, and then try turning it on again.

3. Inspect the Charging Port

  • Check for any dust, debris, or damage inside the USB charging port.
  • If it’s dirty, gently clean it using a toothpick or compressed air.

4. Try a Longer Charging Period

  • Leave the printer plugged in for at least 2-3 hours, even if the charging indicator light doesn’t come on.
  • After charging, unplug it, wait 5 minutes, and then try turning it on.

5. Firmware Update (If Possible)

  • If the printer can turn on temporarily, connect it to your HP Sprocket app.
  • Check if a firmware update is available and install it to ensure the printer’s battery management software is up-to-date.

Why Might the Battery Have Failed?

  • Lithium-ion batteries degrade over time, especially if left unused for extended periods without occasional charging.
  • Storing the printer in extreme temperatures or leaving it discharged for long periods can also affect battery life.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
