I've seen this problem repeated over and over on this forum, with no solution -- only responses from HP staff asking you to go through steps that have nothing to do with the issue.
The problem is that the software is faulty for the printing app -- it determines a "main" area of the image and forcibly crops the image to that size, and nothing you can do will get it to display the full image.  Even if I rotate the image AND RE-SAVE IT TO MY PHONE and use that new one, the Sprocket app will rotate the image BACK because it thinks it knows better what I want. lolol.  So frustrating, and it makes the device unusable.

Has anyone found a solution for this?  Other than going into photoshop and padding a photo to be exactly 2:3 with unneeded data in the four corners, there's no way to override the app's cropping.  If I go into the "Crop and Rotate" option, it doesn't let me rotate at all -- those options are greyed out, because again the app knows better than me, apparently -- and it won't let me expand the cropping to show the whole image.

Hi @AdeleT

Welcome to HP Support Community!

We noticed that this thread hasn't had any updates in a while since your original post; while this is rare, we didn't want this post to remain unanswered, so here's the solution to your query. We hope it helps you and everyone viewing this post 😊

If your HP Sprocket 200 is forcibly cropping photos, here are a few steps to address the issue:

1. Verify App Settings

  • Open the HP Sprocket app and ensure the photo editing features are properly configured.
  • Disable auto-cropping by selecting the "Crop & Rotate" options in the editing section.
  • Check if "Smart Cropping" is enabled. If it is, try turning it off.

2. Update the HP Sprocket App

  • Ensure the Sprocket app is updated to the latest version via your device's app store.
  • Updates often include improvements and fixes for issues like cropping.

3. Use the Original Aspect Ratio

  • In the Sprocket app, check if there's an option to print the image using its original aspect ratio.
  • Look for "Fit to Page" or similar settings to minimise unwanted cropping.

4. Reset the Printer

  • Locate the pinhole near the charging port on your Sprocket 200.
  • Insert a pin or paperclip to press the reset button until the printer turns off.
  • Restart the printer and reconnect it to your device via Bluetooth.

5. Change Paper Type Settings

  • In the app, ensure the paper type selected matches your HP photo paper specifications.
  • Incorrect paper settings can impact the way images are printed.

Let me know how these HP-specific steps work for you! 😊
