I've just set up my sprocket in the app and it says to install an update, however this update is taking a very long time to install. I've easily left it running for over an hour and it still says installing.
I've tried uninstalling the app and reinstalling it, restarting my phone, and restarting the sprocket. None of this things have enabled me to get my sprocket updated.
If I chose not to update the sprocket I'm still unable to print, as the app crashes as soon as I hit the print button.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks

Hi @cannedelf,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're experiencing a frustrating issue with updating your HP Sprocket's firmware. Here are some steps you can take to try to resolve the problem:
Ensure Stable Connection:
- Make sure your Sprocket is fully charged or connected to a power source.
- Ensure your phone has a stable internet connection during the update process.
Close Other Apps:
- Close any other apps running in the background on your phone to ensure that the Sprocket app has enough resources.
Clear Cache and Data:
- On your phone, go to Settings > Apps > Sprocket > Storage.
- Clear the cache and data, then reopen the app and try the update again.
Try a Different Device:
- If possible, try updating the Sprocket firmware using a different smartphone or tablet. Install the HP Sprocket app on the new device and attempt the firmware update again.
Update Firmware via Computer:
- Some users have reported success by updating the firmware via a computer. Check the HP support website for any available firmware updates for your Sprocket that can be downloaded to a computer and installed via USB connection.
Reset the Sprocket:
- Perform a hard reset on your Sprocket:
- Turn off the Sprocket.
- Hold the power button for about 7 seconds until the device turns off and on again.
- Try the update again after the reset.
Check for App Updates:
- Ensure that you have the latest version of the HP Sprocket app installed. Check the app store on your device for any available updates.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
