@Gare5, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The simultaneous blinking of white and orange lights on an HP laptop typically points to a hardware-related issue, often with battery, BIOS, or power circuitry. Let's go step-by-step to troubleshoot and resolve this:

Try a Hard Reset (Power Drain)

This helps clear residual power and can reset hardware circuits.

  • Disconnect the charger and remove the battery (if it's removable).
  • Hold the power button for 30 seconds.
  • Reconnect the charger only (leave battery out if it's removable).
  • Try turning it on.

If it powers on, the battery may be the issue.

Identify the Blink Pattern (Diagnostic Code)

HP uses blinking codes to signal hardware failures. Count the blinks:

  • Do the lights blink in a pattern (e.g., 3 blinks, pause, 3 blinks)?
  • Or do they blink continuously together?

Try the BIOS Recovery Method

If the laptop was recently updated or shut down during an update:

  • Hold Windows + B and then press and hold the power button for 5–10 seconds.
  • Release power (but keep holding Windows + B) until you see a screen or hear a beep.
  • This will attempt to recover the BIOS.

Check the Charger and Port

  • Make sure you're using the original HP charger.
  • Try another compatible HP charger if available.
  • Inspect the charging port for damage or loose connection.

Try Booting Without Battery

If your laptop has a removable battery:

  • Remove the battery.
  • Connect the charger.
  • Try turning it on.

If it powers on, the battery may be shorted or failed.

Perform a Component Reset (for Built-in Battery Models)

  • Disconnect all peripherals (USB, SD card, etc.).
  • Hold the power button for 30–60 seconds.
  • Plug the charger back in and try powering on again.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
