I read on another thread that the tray in the phone that holds the SIM and SD cards is dodgy.
Some users have received new ones from HP. Your SD card problem could be related to that tray, not Windows. I must say, the tray does seem rather flimsy to me.

My SD Card tray was working fine since I purchased the phone in November 2017. Never had an issue until the new update. It can't be the tray. Why would it happen now after the update? What I did notice. Instead of restarting the phone after I get the SD card issue. I just let it go. Then I get the message"Need to scan and fix SD card"? Now I can access my SD card????
