Hi, i have set my calculator to engineering mode with 3 decimal places, yet when I type 123.145667 it only shows 123.1 it seems that the more digits that are on the left side of the decimal place takes one away from the right.
Ex
123.145667 to 123.1
12.345667 to 12.35
1.2345667 to 1.235 with the correct amount of decimal places which is what would like.
Any way of fixing this or is it doing the rounding differently then what i belive it should be doing, thanks in advance.

Hi!, @trickbiker121:
Your, examples ...
123.145667 to 123.1
Configure : Shift --> Home Setting --> Number Format --> Fixed --> 1
12.345667 to 12.35
Configure : Shift --> Home Setting --> Number Format --> Fixed --> 2
1.2345667 to 1.235
Configure: Shift --> Home Setting --> Number Format --> Fixed --> 3
From, the User Guide, page 20-Chapter 2 - Getting Started, you can see ...

Thank you for your response, but I need my calculator to be in engineering mode with 3 decimal places and when i set it to Enginneering I'm not getting 3 decimal places if I type a larger number like 123.45567 i just get 123.5 but i would like 123.456 in engineering mode do you know how I would always get 3 decimal places in engineering mode? Fixed mode works correctly and always displays 3 decimal places but engineering mode does not.

Hi!, @trickbiker121:
IMHO, is not possible.
Read, in muy first post, the Description, of Engineering Notation.

Hi!, @trickbiker121:
You can see too, in the next link, the participation, of Joe Horn ... http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Calculators/Problem-with-number-format/td-p/5079684
Check, with Wolfram Alpha, with 12 digits precision, same what have, HP PRIME GRAPHING CALCULATOR.

Hello,
The ENG setting is not digits "after the decimal", but rather 3 digits "after the first number". The problem here is that the calculator has 12 digits of precision. If the setting was 3 digits after the decimal, you could easily say 12345678901234567890.123 should be the correct number to display even though it has more digits then the calculator can represent. Make sense?
Although I work for the HP calculator group as a head developer of the HP Prime, the views and opinions I post here are my own.

Hi, that makes sense, but I tried engineering 3 mode on my friends hp prime which has an older firmware from 2013 and it would always show 3 decimal places, did something change in the software from then and now? My older ti-84 in engineering mode also always showed 3 decimal places and i would really like this one to do the same so if there is any way to change it to do that it would be helpful. Thanks.
