Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I soft restarted my laptop as it was updating, because I thought it was caught in a loop or something similar. Now when I log in, the desktop is almost an entirely black screen; the only things that appear when prompted are a the cursor and the task manager. I’ve tried different advanced options from the bott menu, such as system restore, going back to a previous version of Windows 10, and troubleshooting repairs, but nothing is working. Please respond as soon as possible!

@Chris_Pete,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

Thank you for posting your query on this forum, it's a great place to find answers.

I reviewed your post and I understand that the computer boots to a black screen.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

I checked the failure ID you have mentioned, and it looks like the hard drive is gone bad and needs replacement.

It is a hardware issue with the product. I will share you few details through a private message about the service options dedicated to your product, please watch your inbox for more information.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

If you wish to show appreciation for my efforts, mark my post as Accept as Solution. Your feedback counts!

Cheers!
