in my documens Palm OS I have a bunch of files the most recent being only datebook.dba   8/18  at  931 Pm  it contains  104 KB and obviously is lacking the bulk of the info .

?The only file there that says DateBook.mdb.bak is dated  8/15/09 1142 pm and has 1336 KB in it

There is another  other file datebook.bak type BAK file with 2952 KB in it created 8/18/09 at  8:04 PM plus a datebook plain file that says 3032KB anbd was created 8/18/09 it is a database file and has 3032 KB in it . Also there are files with different extensions and that vary from 2952 Kb and 3224 KB  and 3032  KB  and 3034 KBs .

Seeems like a loss of data in the syncs ?

Which is the coirrect file that has to be present in the documnets folder for the desktop to display tjhose items

Would I be taking a chance if I syunced with Desktop overwrties handheld now , and which folder would that copy to my Treo .

Do you think I have the correct folder now or will I lose my datebook again . If I understand correctly the active folder that has to be present is   DBA file and I do not have any in my documnets folder over 104 KB although my desktop callendar is full of stuff going back to 2002 almost daily including dupes and trips.

Which is the folder in Documnets Palm OS that I am viewing on my desktop ???

Plain datebook ? which is the last file created 8/18/09 at 1126 PM and just says datebook plain and the type is  Data base File and has a square icon with what looks like a key in it ?

Ok, Just so I understand where you are at. Do you have any data in calendar, contacts, memos, and tasks?

Palm Desktop 6.2.2 uses files extension called .mdb and after a hotsync it can add files call .mdb.bak Palm Desktop 4.2 and below i.e. 4.1.4E uses .dat and .bak files.

Now where do you want this data. I can give you directions on what to do so you do not need to understand fully what is going on but so we can get this resolved.

Lastly, what do you have in your device currently, what data contacts, calendar, tasks, and memos.

On my dekstop 6.2.2 I have all my contacts , all my memos. tasks and my entire calendar ( AT least what I retrieved after the crash)

On my Treo I have all my contacts memos tasks ***   and an entirely empty caledar . I am waiting for your instructions Thx

Ok, to get the calendar back on the device open up the hotsync manager. To do that go to your clock on your PC and right click on the hotsync symbol. Select settings. What we are doing is going to change the conduit setting to overwrite the handheld. Now select applications then click on datebook. Click on Configure. Once the window pops up. Pick desktop overwrites handheld. Click OK or done then click done and hotsync. This will overwrite the device and put your desktop data.

Once this is done then you should be up to date. If you want to move to another Palm Desktop version that is fine and I can give you directions just post back on what you want done next.

OK  I did that and all my calendar data  is back on my handheld and my desktop Thx .

Also in response to the loss of data after running antispyware  Someone somewhere in this forum replied to my losing all my Calendar data that , that could happen  when you run antispyware and my desktop is in the active window, or something to that effect .

I cant find the post and the exact comment but I always close my desktop before I do a virus or syware scan because I heard in Ver 6.2.2 you can lose data doing those scans

Would doing multiple syns ensure that my data is backed up well enough by the desktop that it will not be cleaned out by either AVG or Supersyware ?

Thx again

HI  POET .It was your comment line 3 " Palm DesktopVer 6.2.2 needs  to have the data saved to the file before you do a restart, anti virus scan and so on. The active data does not gert saved  " that has me confused now.

What causes data to be saved to a file and which file is that ? Does not entering data in my desktop and then closing the desktop save the data ? If not  what should I do to get the data to the correct file you mention?  And which file is it ?

Does syncing more than once get everything to the corrrect file or what other method do you recommend to get the data from "active" to whatever is necesssary to insure I will not lose it doing a scan ?

If there is no specific answer  Do multiple hot syncs help?

I would recommend that right before a scan happens that you save and close the Palm Desktop. To do that you can go to file and the save then close the Palm Desktop.

DO I have to do that in every category ? Thanks for the quick reply
