Elitepad 900
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (32-bit)

The battery is not working at all on my Elitepad 900 with Windows 8.1.

In the BIOS, when I run the Battery Information and Calibration, I get:

Battery Calibration: SOFTWARE ERROR

Component Test: CANCELED

The Battery *is* installed and is reported as AT020225XL. It has a serial number and capacity at "24975 mW.Hour" according to the BIOS.

I updated the BIOS with the most recent one from the HP Support site (1.0.2.3 Rev.A 3 Jun 2015)

HP Elitepad 900 System BIOS/Firmware and Driver Update (American, International)   system software Manager Icon1.0.2.3 Rev.A 3 Jun 2015

The machine will only work when it is plugged into the AC adaptor. In Windows, it claims that Battery 1 is 100%, but if I unplug the AC adaptor, the tablet turns off immediately.

I think this is a common problem for the ElitePad 900. Please let me know if HP or another customer has found a solution.

I have already read the following threads, but they have not solved my problem or they are a different problem:

Same issue, no answer:

EDIT: Same issue, claims that a new battery fixed the problem:
