elite x2 with usb-c dock
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

I cannot get the HDMI port to work on this usb-c dock with an elite x2 tab.  dport works,  Latest bios installed and no drivers are missing that I can see in Dev. mgr. everything else on the dock is working.  I now have only the hdmi port connected to an hp elitedisplay monitor with an hdmi to dport cable .  No monitor is detected.  Displaylink also does not detet any external monitor.  Please help.

Thanks,

The problem is that HDMI to DisplayPort conversion needs an active adapter, which the HP USB-C-Dock does not have.

I solved the problem by getting a new model of HP USB-C dock which has 2 DisplayPort adapters.

If you cannot  get that hardware, you can try using a HDMI to DVI cable to connect your monitor (If the monitor supports DVI). HDMI "should" be compatible to DVI without the active adapter.
