Go to http://www.microsoft.com and do a search for: Windows Device Recovery Tool. Download and install. After install connect phone to PC using USB and follow instructions. If phone isn't shown when you open the application, select My phone isn't Detected/Other OEM/HP/Elite X3. You should see the latest firmware version. Select latest firmware and install. Remember this will erase all files, contacts, and all your favorite pictures. So, make backup of whatever you want to keep to your PC before you do this.

During a call the phone would turn off or reboot. I called HP and they sent me a revised SIM card tray. I haven't had that problem since!
My problem was before the latest firmware update
