Dear All,

I have just check with the USB recovery from another one, try to fix the problem and I see:

- HP logo appears.

-SSD is not recognised, and is locked. It means, when we upgrade to new bios (in windows 10) it locks the ssd. Perhaps, all of contents in ssd are still there include the recovery partition, no lost.

Now, we have to find the way to unclock ssd. But I don't know how to do it.

Whilst I always love a challenge with a computer ultimately HP should be taking some responsibility for this debacle, which they created, however as regards input from HP on this thread the silence is deafening. :HalfEyes:

There is no solution i guess.. i went and gave the device to hp service centre.. They said they wud try to repair, else replace.. thank god this happened while in warranty

I already mentioned that the storage is locked. There are ways of unlocking it but it would require you to boot into Windows successfully from a USB or external hard like a waste did. If you search how to unlock dad on Google you'll get some information regarding it, last time I checked it had something to do with the CMD and windows not shutting down properly in windows 8.

@everyone

To anyboady who is reading this post...Pleeeeeeeaaaaaaase I need a working bios full dump

After reprogramming the bios and bringing the dead tablet to life I am facing the issue that Product number Product serial System board ctc is missing...

I need a full dump of a working bios to patch my bios with my serial and product number

Please anyone who can help...upload a fully working bios dump with bios applications which make a bios dump. If you do this favor to me, I would be able to patch my own bios and put a tutorial for anyone with a dead tablet to recover the tablets by their own....

Hi foroughi9300,

I got another working omni 10 with old bios. I still have my non-working black screen omni 10.

Can you message me how to dump the working bios to send to you?

I used to consider reprogramming the bios chip but don't have time to do it.

Are you in USA?

Thanks,

Hi guys I also updated the new BIOS and bricked my OMNI 10 but I was able to boot windows 8.1 x86 version from external hard disk successfully so those who still can not figure it out how to boot Windows to go I am writing step by step instructions to help you out to boot to Windows until the solution or new BIOS update is released.

Tested on External HDD. I am not sure about USB Drive but I think it should work with USB Drives as well.

My BIOS settings are set to default I didnt change anything in the settings.

Step 1: I prepared my target drive where I wanted to install Windows to go on my laptop. I used windows diskpart and used the following commands. (Someone already posted these commands in few pages back)

list disk
select disk # (use the number for your USB drive. be careful!) clean convert gpt create partition efi size=100 format quick fs=fat32 label="System" create partition primary format quick fs=ntfs label="Windows"
exit

 Step 2: I left USB plugged in and downloaded WinToUSB and also used Windows 8.1 core x86 ISO just google it if you don't have Windows ISO.

Step 3: Open WinToUSB and in the ISO Section Browse The Windows 8.1 ISO that you downloded. Select Windows 8.1 x86 and click next.

Step 4: Select the same USB HDD that you prepared earlier in the Drop down box. Select Disk.

Step 5: When you will select the disk you will see two partitions one EFI and second boot Partition. Select both partition and Select Legacy Option like the picture shown below. Click Next. This will install "Windows 8.1 x86 core version to go" on your external HDD or USB (Not tested on USB).

I personally used USB Otg cable external Mouse and Keyboard on USB hub to connect everything with HP OMNI 10 5601TW I am sorry for any typing mistake or any kind of mistake in this reply hope it helps you guys. If anyone can boot into windows and find solution will be much appreciated.

P.S. I tried to downgrade BIOS while in the windows I couldn't because it wasn't letting me. This is my last HP computer or tablet ever no more HP for me.

@frogjovi

Use SLIC toolkit 3.2 I hope that can make a dump...

If not use "biosdecode" in Ubuntu linux

By the way... I'm in the cursed land, Iran
