Good day everyone!

I can't figure out how to do implicit differentiation and logarithmic differentiation on the Prime.

For instance, I am trying to find y' for this equation.

x^2 + y^2 = ln (x + y)^2

Solving the question manually, I know that the answer is

y'= (-x^2 - xy + ln(x + y)) / (y^2 + x y - ln(x + y))

I hope you can help me please!

Thanks!

Hello,

There is no specific command for it. Basically, this is the steps:

1. Put everything on one side

2. Store as a variable

3. dx/dy

Example:

eq:=x^2 + y^2 - ln (x + y)^2

eq'/(eq,y)'   (  or diff(eq)/diff(eq,y)  )

Then simplify your result.

Thanks a lot Tim!

Now, all I need to do is explore this Prime even more.

I would also like to communicate my interest in this functionality. Coming from a background with TI calculators, this has been supported natively since the TI-89.
