HP Stream 8 Tablet
Microsoft Windows 8 (32-bit)

I have HP Stream 8 Tablet that I bought about 6 months ago. Model number K4F55UA#ABA. The tablet had recently stopped connecting to WiFi networks. There is even no WiFi icon displayed.

The diagnostic messages are as follows:

The module “Realtek RTL8723BS Wireless LAN 802/11n SDIO Network Adapter” has stopped working.
“Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"

Module driver details:

Driver Date 01.10.2014

Driver Version 3007.6.901.2014

I would very much appreciate any advice. If nothing else works, does anyone know an e-mail address to contact HP tech support? (I very much prefer e-mail to phone conversations.)

Hi there @SergeyY

Welcome to the HP Support Forums! It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts and other support personnel. I understand that you are getting a Code 43 error, related to the Network Adapter

Code 43: Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems - technet.microsoft.com

You can if necessary, download and save the following file to a compatible external device, and use it to install the driver again to your tablet, if you cannot get your device to find a compatible driver, using the method in the above document on the Code 43 error.  Realtek RTL8723BS 802.11n SDIO Wireless LAN Drivers

If the error message goes away, and you have wireless connectivity again, then you are good to go. If the error is still present, then use the following http://www.hp.com/contacthp and create a case for your issue and contact HP. I realize that you prefer not to call in, but this is the fastest way to go. If you live outside the US/Canada, please click the link below to get the contact information for your region. http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-phone-assist.html

If the error is gone, but you still do not have a wireless connection, then I have a longer list of things you can try.

Troubleshooting wireless network and Internet (Windows 😎

Also, you can look at the power management for your wireless adapter:
Disable the Power Off option for the adapter:
1. Open Device Manager. (Win Key+R > type devmgmt.msc > OK)
2. Expand the Network adapters.
3. Right click on the Ethernet/Wireless Adapter and click Properties.
4. Click the Power Management tab.
5. Remove the check mark beside Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
6. Click OK.
7. Test.

Forget the network: (Windows 😎
1. Press Windows Key + C
2. Click Settings.
3. Click Change PC settings.
4. Click Network on the left.
5. Click Manage known networks.
6. Click the network name.
7. Click Forget.

Reset the TCP/IP settings on your PC:
1. Go to your start screen/menu and type CMD.
2. Right click on the command prompt icon and chose Run as administrator.
3. In the window that opens type "netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt" without quotes, and press enter.
4. Restart your PC and test.

It may also help to reset the winsock catalogue:
1. Go to your start screen/menu and type CMD.
2. Right click on the command prompt icon and chose Run as administrator.
3. In the window that opens type "netsh winsock reset" without quotes, and press enter.
4. Restart your PC and test.

Reinstall the network adapter drivers:
1. Download the drivers from here but do not run them yet.
2. Go to your start screen/menu and type Device Manager.
3. Expand Network adapters.
4. Right click on the wireless adapter and choose Uninstall.
5. Run the downloaded drivers from step 1.
6. Restart your PC and test.

Test another connection:
Many people rule out their home network as an issue if another device is working on the same network. Networking is not that simple. Each device interacts differently with your router or modem and it is impossible to rule out settings in that device until the notebook has been tested on another network.

I hope something here helps resolve your issue, and if so, please mark this post as a solution, and I am not opposed to kudos, either . Smiley Wink  Take care.

This solved my problem!
My problem:  My HP Stream 8 was not finding wireless connections.  The Mobile Broadband worked fine though.

1.  Go to Device Manager.  You can do this by searching for it with the magnifying glass.
2.  Under 'Network Adapters' click on "Realtek blah blah blah".
3.  Hold your finger on it (don't open it).
4.  Click on 'disable'.
5.  Do what it says. Disable it.
6.  Repeat the same thing only THIS time click 'enable'.  Voila!

My HP Stream 8 tablet wifi was not working-AGAIN.  Here's what I did.
Followed the directions for uninstalling the wifi driver.  That's the easy part.
You're going to need another computer.
On my real computer I downloaded the driver.  The driver I downloaded was from HPs website.  I deleted the driver from my HP Stream 8.
My Stream 8 did not have a MicroSD card.  Ya' gotta buy one and the adaptor card it goes into so you can plug it into another computer. Since the MicroSD card is so tiny, you'll need an adaptor.  Ya' put the MicroSD card into the adaptor (which looks like a card as well) and you plug THAT into a slot in your laptop.  If you do NOT have a slot in you laptop but you DO have a USB port, you'll need a different kind of adaptor (a 'reader'-I also bought a Unirex 4 in 1 reader [adaptor])  .  A 'reader' looks like a flash drive/thumb drive you'd plug into a USB port but instead of having memory it has two slots (one slot for a MicroSD card and one slot for a larger card) and a male plug that can be plugged into one of those small charging slots you plug a charging cord into on your phone to charge your phone.

I saved the new driver in a folder on my desktop, bought and saved the new driver to a MicroSD card (a 64 GB 'Unirex'), copied and pasted the new driver onto the adaptor/MicroSD card, removed the adaptor, removed the MicroSD card from the adaptor, removed the back of my HP Stream8 w/my thumbnail (easy!), put the MicroSD card into the memory slot in the HP Stream 8 , turned on the HP Stream8, opened up the folders and found the card, clicked on it & the installation process began.  Then it reinstalled the driver & ran it-no problems.  I connected right away to the internet.
