I managed to add t to the Launcher folder but could do nothing thereafter.

Did you put the card back into the TX after copying the program to the /Launcher subdirectory?  I think the program may have to be copied to main memory in order to work correctly.

What exactly does "could do nothing thereafter" mean?  We are trying to help you resolve this issue, but we need details in order to help you!

Of course I put the card back into the TX.  Now I have copied that reset program into every folder and the main part of the card.  When I insert it into the TX, nothing happens means that I see the same things I always saw and whenever I try to reset it rturns to the Preferences window.

There must be some way to reset this to factory settings, but no one has yet suggested a way.

paulevy, the way to reset the device has clearly been explained.  Something appears to be wrong with your TX, and we're trying to help you determine how to work around the problem.  I've performed Hard Resets on dozens of Palm PDA's, and the power button/reset button combination worked each time.

Does the power switch actually work, and turn the TX off/on?

When you inserted the card, what is being displayed?  Main memory, or the card's contents?  Did you hear a sound when the card was inserted?

Have you tapped the top right corner of the Launcher screen and chosen the card?

The file you copied to the card was "hardreset.prc", correct?

What size and type of card is it?  A stock TX can only read "regular" SD cards up to 2gb in size - those labeled "SD HC" (High Capacity) will not work.

Going over everything again, I found that I had not properly copied the Hardreset.prc file (I had copied the URL) so I downloaded it from 4shared.com and put it into the proper file.  Then I re-inserted the memory card and the file ran.  The Red Plam sign appeared, the black line ran across the bottom abd the Palm Powered window appeared.  Eventiually hat cleared to a window asking me to tap the center of a target.  I did that more than 50 times but nothing has changed.  I cannot even get to the home page to see if the contacts and calendars have been wiped off.

Any ideas now?

OK--I removed the card and re-inserted it. Punched several buttons, etc., and miracle of all miracles, I got to the home page. I checked contacts, calendars and pictures and nothing is there!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I think it has been reset.
Thanks for patiently sticking with me as I was slowly going mad.

Glad we got this resolved!  🙂

Sounds like your TX has a defective digitizer screen...
