Greetings,

My kid mistakenly put a pin# into my HP TouchPad Tablet webOS and can't remember that pin# so now it's locked and can't unlocked it. Thus, how to reset the pin# or unlock it?

Thanks...

You will have to do a full erase of the tablet, the sign back into your webOS account.  Otherwise, if it was easy for anyone to just reset the PIN, the PIN wouldn't be of much use to protect your data.

Press and hold the Power button.

While holding power button, press and hold the Volume  Up button.

While holding Power and Volume Up buttons, press the center button.

You will see a message to continue holding.  In 6 seconds the device will erase and reset.

Sign back into your webOS account.

Dear Colleagues, my lovely daughter (8) changed the pin on webos Touchpad. As it is in dual boot mode with Cyanogen mode (Android 4.1) how can I just reset, solve the problem on the webos side without erasing the whole device? Any idea? Thx Pat

I believe there is a thread or an article at webosnation.com with a procedure to reset the PIN that does not involve wiping the device this way.  Never tried it, can't vouch for it, don't know if it risks your CM installation.

Hi

thanks a lot - will search and try. Can't get worser than a clean wipe... so data is saved anyway. Keep you posted. Thanks for answering so quick.

Best regards Pat

EDIT - The seq and hold worked for me.

HOWEVER - It takes a loooooong time for the unit to reset itself.  I thought that the process hadn't worked a couple of times.  So please be patient.  Cheers.
