Hi
I have bought a new Prime Graphing. Calculator. When plug it to charger/adapter IT turns on. In the beginning the symbol of charging battery (battery with a flash) appers, after a few second 1-5 sec it changes to a battery without a flash. When i unplug after several hours IT shuts down imediatly. I cant turn IT on with out charger pluged.
The battery seems to be fullt charged the battery icon is complete green.
This is a new calculator, and i got IT as a replacement of an other new Prime Graphing Calculator with the same problem bought and delivered Dec 23 2016.
When using an other USB cable and an other adapter (Apple for iPad) i have the same problem.
When i use the cables and the charger delvered by HP it works with Samsung.
This calculator has the serial number xxxxxxxxxx and the software version 20160829 (10637)

Hi @Brollan, good morning !
Welcome to HP Forum !
🙂
Realize this steps for resolve this problem:
HP Prime Diagnostic Mode
To put the Prime in diagnostic mode, press F C O keys all at the same time while doing a pin reset to back of the unit. It should display the "EA656 DIAGNOSTIC" Screen Menu.
HP Prime reset to factory settings - Press 4 (FLS Utility), and then press 3 (Format Disk C). This clears out the flash. Once finished, press ESC to back out into the main menu. From there press 9 (RESET). It will reboot into its factory condition and request language choice.
Note: To do a quick minor factory reset. Press [Apps] and [Esc] key simultaneously and holding it, and press the [On] key.
I hope that helps !

Please ignore any other instructions. Only the procedure I am going to give you might work. What very well might fix it is this procedure:
1. Using a small screwdriver, undo the two screws in the back of the unit.
2. Open the back door and take the battery out.
3. Plug the calculator in to the USB with the battery still out. The calculator should turn on.
4. With the calculator still turned on, put the battery back in. The calculator should reamin on.
5. Wait 5 minutes or so, and unplug the calculator. Does it stay running even for a few seconds?
6. If it does, great! It should work now. Leave it charging for a few hours and you will be good again.
If that doesn't resolve the problem, please send me an instant message through the forum and I will give you a direct email and put you directly in touch with our head of support who sits right next to me.
What I beleive may have happened here is the unit you bought was sitting for long enough the battery got into a "very very very low discharge" state and doesn't want to charge. Putting it back in while the unit is powered up can reset something in the battery and get it started back up again.

Yesterday i tried to use a Litium battery from Samsung instead of the deliverd by HP and it worked perfect. I foud out that the supplier of the battery to the calculator and Samsung is the same ShenZhen WISEWOD Technology Co. Ltd and that it might be the same battery as used for Samsung S3. Today i called the swedish customer support and asked them to send me a new battery. Im going crazy, suprisingly they said that they would like me to send it back, they refused to send me a new battery.

The problem with shipping batteries around alone is that HP doesn't "bend" the rules like a lot of small suppliers do. In order to ship batteries by air, you need to have special packaging and some expenisve testing to gain some certifications. Most people that ship batteries around incorrectly mark the packages and just don't follow the rules laid down by quite a few companies and shippers. Strangely enough, those rules DO NOT apply when the battery is inside a product...
For very small numbers of batteries that would be needed to replace the few problematic calculator batteries, it just isn't worth it to stock and pay for all that testing/packaging. They normally just replace the calculator (hence why they told you that). Note this is not dismissing your complaint or problems, but just an attempt to explain why the situation is like this at the moment.
However, the battery you tried will function properly in Prime and also gives your 1/3 more battery life in the calculator because it is 2200/2300 mAh instead of 1500mAh.
Did you try the procedure I gave you though? That very commonly will simply resolve it for you.

Hi Tim, Thanks!
I did try to follow your advice step by step, and actually i did it even before, that was my first atempt to fix the problem. and it didn't solve the problem. I
I was not very keen on send the hole calculator back once ( third time). I ordered it before christmas for a specific sheduled purpose. There was major problems to get a new one and they actually shipped it to the wrong adress once. I didn´t feel confident that HP would manage to deliver it on time and i suspected that even the next to bedlivered would have the same fault (same productin batch?)
As there are no stock of separate batteries at HP, I cant se why HP provide the specification for the battery with the manual so that the custumer can buy a new battery if needed.
Yesterday a went to a shop (Kjell o Company) for phones, cameras, etc. I bought a new Samsung battery for S3, it worked perfect.
Now I will try to get compensation for my new battery from HP.

Hi!, Brollan:
IMHO, you must be only original battery by warranty. This is specilly made for HP PRIME and with all permission and approved by IEC 61690 normative.
Important: IEC 61960-2003.pdf - evva-tech.com
This International Standard specifies performance and safety tests, designations, markings, dimensions and other requirements for secondary lithium single cells. The objective of this standard is to provide the purchasers of secondary lithium cells with a set of criteria with which they can judge the performance and safety of various secondary lithium cells offered by various manufacturers.
Battery :
- Type : Rechargeable Battery
- Technology: Lithium-Ion
- Manufacturer : WiseWod Tehnology Co.
- Reference : 484461AR
- IEC 61960 Number : 1ICP6/51/63
- Dimensions : 4.8 * 43.8 * 61 mm
- Nominal voltage : 3.7 V
- Max. capacity : 1500 mAh
- Energy: 5.55 Wh
- Impedance : <= 60 mOhm
Note: The Samsung S3, don't have, this normative ...
You can use, but under your risk.
Have a nice day !.

Can you explain how to interpret the marking on the battery regarding the date of manufature (se attached picture).
What is the shelf life of the battery.
How can i get a new specific HP PRIME battery?
