I am unable to stop/pause the windows update on my laptop. I tried to run the command
net stop wuauserv
Using adminstrative privileges but still the access was denied. The system showed error 5, access denied.

I reviewed your post and I understand that you want to know how to disable Windows updates.
Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.
What is the exact model for your computer?
Meanwhile, follow the below steps to stop the Windows updates.
- Open Start.
- Search for gpedit. ...
- Navigate to the following path: ...
- Double-click the Configure Automatic Updates policy on the right side. ...
- Check the Disabled option to turn off the policy. ...
- Click the Apply button.
- Click the OK button.
Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!
