I have a problem with QR-Scanning. I use THREEMA as my messenger. Threema will identify my peers by reading QR Codes but it doesn't work at all. I tried another QR App to ensure that Threema is not the problem. Also the other QR-Scanner can't read the code. I assume there is still something wrong with the camera. I was using the LUmia 950xl before and I was proud how fast the Lumia could read the QR-Code compared to Android or Apple. Does anybody have an idea?

we definitely suffer of a camera issue as even whatsapp can't recognize the QR-Code to get to web.whatsapp.com.

some other QR-reader apps somehow seem to work but not 100% sure if generated text from QR reading is the right one.

for instance, web.whatsapp works by sending a text code (from the QR-Code reading with phone camera) to whatsapp servers and enables transfer to the web client.

initially we thought it could be a whatsapp issue but your message is confirming is an HP camera drive one instead.

@Johann_52

Thank you for posting on the HP Forums,

I'd like to help you,

Although, I see that a community member ( @Red717 ) has suggested a step, did that help?

Please reply and let me know if you need any further assistance.

hi @Johann_52

mine was not a solution/workaround unfortunately. it was a confirmation this is not a whatsapp issue (I got connected to whatsapp support), but an Elite camera driver instead.

Hi Riddle_Decipher, thanks for your comment but please read the new post from red717 . It's an elite x3 problem. Maybe you have an idea to solve this matter. Many thanks in advance.

@Johann_52

Thank you for replying,

I recommend using one more alternate app, in your case the 3rd app (considering the 3rd attempt is a charm) as certain apps have compatibility issues,

If the issue persists, the only other step you could do is a factory reset,

HP also has an integrated QR-code reader integrated into the camera app, let me know if that didn't work either.

let me know if you've done the above, so that i may find other options for you,

Keep me posted

this could be possibly related to our issue:

https://mspoweruser.com/latest-whatsapp-beta-for-windows-phone-fixes-whatsapp-web-issue/

"

WhatsApp beta for Windows Phone has just been updated with a fix for the WhatsApp web issue.

Version 2.16.238.0 of the app corrects an issue with WhatsApp Web, the desktop version of the app, introduced in recent builds, allowing users to once again access their WhatsApp messaging from a desktop browser."

got a message from Whatsapp support:

version 2.16.240 is on app store today, this should solve the web.whatsapp QR scanning code issue.

i'm on 2.16.242 but issue still there. i believe it's the hp camera driver.

i think it's the focusing issue. if you go to the camera app you'll notice that it requires u to tap on the screen to focus before u can take a photo otherwise the photo will be out of focus.

the same behaviour is found when trying to scan the whatsapp web qr. it keep trying to focus. if look closely you will find there's twitch like behaviour similar to the camera app trying to focus.

this is what i'm experiencing, not sure if it's the same for others.

HP please fix this asap!

just to add to my previous post. i've tested this on other device (lumia 950xl) with the same whatsapp version without any issue so the problem is definitely with the x3.
