Is there a place where one could purchase this magical 'optional accessory'?

EDIT: Something that should have shipped with the product anyways? imo

EDIT 2: Not sure why it says posted from a nexus 4 when I posted it from my slatebook x2.

Vereri, can I ask which browser you are using to post in this Forum?  Gonna try to get lithium to correct the "Google Nexus 4" issue.

I've reported this problem to my HP contacts.  Thanks for pointing this out!

It was from Chrome.

Cable Search Update:
I tried contacting the HP Parts Store and they wanted to know the product number for the 'docking station'. There is no clear product number on the base of the Slatebook as to determine the type of adapter for the cable and apparently I couldn't be helped without it.

Anyone have thoughts on that one?

This .pdf shows all the part numbers: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03813920.pdf

It shows an ifixit like breakdown of the internals.  Also references a usb-micro usb cable.

I'm not talking about a micro usb to usb cable.

http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03790400

The cable shown on this page is USB to the special adapter for tablet and the base. It is the same adapter as the charging cable except with a USB connector instead of a power connector. If this cable that we all want doesn't exist on any parts list, then why is there a picture of it on a support page?

Because its HP.....They had the graphics listed as having Intel HD4000 for almost 2 weeks. Heck Best Buy STILL has this listed for the graphics becuase of this oversight....I agree this item should have been packed in with the device from the get go!

I ve just received my slatebook tab today (september 13 th) without the usb cable 😞

There are a wide variety of ways to share files between the Slatebook and other computers. Google Drive is just one of them.

The key is realizing that your slatebook x2 is a real computer. It can share files via bluetooth, wifi, cloud drives, in-house file servers, etc.

There are even apps that you can download via Google Apps to let it act as a server on various protocols.

The area where the lack of a micro-USB port is critical is debugging from an external host. There are self-hosted IDEs for Android now, and the Slatebook is more than powerful enough to run them. But self-hosted debugging only works once the errors are rare.

Does anyone know if the Slatebook has the driver support for being a USB device even if it lacks the physical port? There are USB host-to-host crossover cables, but they won't do any good unless the slatebook knows what to do when there is a USB host on the other end of the wire rather than a USB device.

a) Kindle App has been fixed.

c) If they did it to make $$$ why aren't they making it easier to buy?
There are technical advantages to this type of high-power charger, but I'm
not sure they balane out vs. slower charging via mico-USB port. Or at least

the option to charge via the high-power port *or* a micro-USB port.

I more suspect that the project had good technical direction, but terrible

product management. If you are going to be different you need to promote

it as an advantage. And HP is leaving money on the table, whenever I bought

a notebook on corporate funds I *always* ordered an extra power supply.

If you are going to have a laptop style charger, at least sell it that way too.

d) You can buy the charger from HP parts. It's a pain, and priced like a laptop charger.

e) Surveying the available Android apps to see how many of them rely on GPS is the

type of work a good Product Manager would have done. You either then lobby those

developers to accept Wifi locations and champion cost savings, or you put the extra

     part in.
