Well said asomicait!
The Slatebook x2 really seems like a half-hearted attempt. I agree that a project manager should have known about key oversights like, only 16GB version in the US, no extra power supply to buy, no fitted case/cover, no GPS, no way to direct connect to PC, cheap/yellow display.
It really feels like the development team had a low price/cost goal and did what they could to reach that. I get it but that means the project was doomed to begin with. If you are giong to have a tablet retail at$450-$500 range and still make a profit you have to put everything you have into a standalone tablet. The extra cost of the dock cleraly takes a lot away from the actual tablet. I would have like to have seen a $500 Slate 10 inch with all the specs one would expect and then the option for a $100/150 dock.
I think HP saw an unchallenged market in the tablet/keyboard combo and tried to undercut the competition. Namely ASUS but ASUS does everything the Slatebook does but better. Albeit at a higher price but not that much. For instance the new tranformer pad coming out soon will blow the slatebook x2 out of the water. If is priced at $500 with dock like the rumors say, well, there will be no decisions left to be made. Asus will be the best option all around.
I am just disappointed in HP because I was really looking forward to the Slatebook x2 but it was a letdown. Too many oversights for me to accept.

Slate book x2 is designed to work as a notebook. In the keyboard, USB port is provided where you can connect external flashdrives but not to pair with other notebook or desktop. You have to copy files to flash drive and then trasfer the documents.
(Ex: We cannot connect 2 notebooks together using USB cable and try accesing it. Similarly slate book x2 cannot be connected to any notebook or desktop. USB port which is provided on the keyboard is only to access flashdrives and other protable hard drives)

At it's heart, this is an Android tablet. It will connect to a desktop once you get the connection right. Programs like adb will work. HP simply made a short sighted mistake in using a proprietary connection with no other option to make the connection. Apparently the USB to proprietary cables exist in certain markets, but HP doesn't seem to know that in other markets. They really screwed this one up. I am contemplating sending mine back and grabbing the Transformer TF701 as soon as it comes out.

Greetings,
I also saw this rumor? Do you know which market has the USB cable? I read on xda-developers that some person buying it from Hong Kong got the cable... Does someone anyone have any information on this?
I am really thinking of buying an ASUS Transformer instead, even though that is not my first choice, without the cable to develop there is no way I will buy this device.

I saw it on XDA also, but the various Users manuals mention the cables also with the big caveat that it is only on some models. I called the office of the CEO and got directed to the executive Tech Support group who were absolutely useless and actually told me that Hong Kong is way ahead of the US in technology so that it is common for them to have things available that we don't. I gave him a list of 6-7 different model numbers for Slatebook X2's from various areas. He could not find a corresponding part number.
Come on HP, do you have any useful help here?
