Hello,

I'm trying to solve a partial fraction with a complex denominator roots, i've tried to use the comand "partfrac", but it doesn't work for complex roots.

Example:

the roots of (s^2+4s+5) are [-2-i, -2+i],

If there is any comand that helps me solve this.

Thanks,

Marcos

Hi!, @MarcosLima:

Please, from Options --> Edit Replay, delete the serial Number (S/N), what you write.

See, with Wolfram Alpha the result, of complex roots ... https://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=F(s)%3D+(s%2B3)%2F(s%2B5)*(s%5E2%2B4s%2B5)

Kind Regards !.
Have a nice day !.

Hello MarcosLima,

What calculator are you talking about?

The code 9CJ72103J8 that you gave is not very helpful.

It does work but you have to change the CAS setting by checking "Use i".

Then you get the result you want:

2018-02-03 16.50.27.jpgg

EDIT

I see that you also can use cpartfrac without changing the CAS settings.

By default configuration, the HP PRIME GRAPHING CALCULATOR have, in Home Settings in Complex ... a+b*i.

You don't need to change anything.
