Unfortunately it seems we're all in the same boat.
I'm now having to send mine off for repairs again, and should nothing else be wrong with it this time when it's returned, I'm planning on selling it and replacing it.
It's just incredibly frustrating that HP seems dead set on being against offering any assistance when this is obviously a repeated issue, and my product is still well under warranty.

The sensors don´t even show in the device manager. So it might not be a driver, but a actual hardware issue. - I also posted the issue on their facebook page. In a friendly manner, but in the hope to eventually get some attention so that someone actually takes ownership in fixing this. It will be more likly to succed if some of you post their issues as well.

Anyone here found a solution?

I haven't, and I've only managed to complicate matters, when I tried to downgrade back to WIN 8.1 from 10, now MS won't isn't recognising my passkey. And HP chat customer service can't help, they passed it off to another department which is yet to call me two days since I first contacted them.

This situaton keeps impressing me more and more.

After more that a month of this issue I have given up and I sent my machine in.  I like the way the only option on the email from HP support is positive?  There is no option like "no you didn't solve the problem"  I can tell they really care.

Thought I'd share my experience..

Brand new Spectre x360 - 13-4195dx - Windows 10

Out of the box, Screen rotation doesn't work, lock option is greyed out.

I performed the regsitry update described above.  Set the value to 1.  Rebooted.

Screen now rotates.  Rotation lock option is still greyed in desktop mode.  When I flip to tent or tablet, PC goes into Tablet mode. Screen rotates, now Rotation lock button is enabled.

So it works with the regsitry update and the option is always greyed in desktop mode.

I'd expect this is functioning as designed.

Some of us don't even have it as a greyed out option.

I have the exact same experience and just been going around in circles with Customer Service. Who at first told me it must be a win 10 problem, so after fighting and searching for a solution for weeks, tried to downgrade to win 8.1, but the time limit for downgrade had passed, so all hell broke loose as far as having a valid activation key for windows, so was stuck at unactivated win 8 which refused to return to win 10, and still no auto rotation.

I think honestly I've given up.

I'll use it till I can get a chuck of change to buy a new system, so I'm looking around for anything with out an HP badge at this point, because I've never felt so... abandoned by Customer Service. HP CSO giving me the run around and I'm just playing phone tag, MS CSO's haven't a clue what could be wrong, devices(sensors) aren't showing up in the manager so you can even troubleshoot that, and the one thing HP did tell me to do, and was completed under their direction was a major no go...since downgrading is only possible within a month of win10 upgrade.

I am also experiencing the issue- after having a new motherboard due to faulty processor and/or battery (mine suddenly won't boot up).

I tried both the registry fixes (autorotation/sensorpresent 1) but no dice.

Could those who have the issue fixed please post a screenshot (or just copy the text) of their device manager? Is there supposed to be a sensor category?

Also of note is that the sensor services (i saw 3 of them) automatically turns off when restarted manually, so I fear the new motherboard i had does not have sensors in it. Are these running on a working device?

I also tried some sensor app from the app store and it said disabled for the accelerometer.

I experienced everything you did.  I finaly sent the machine in for repair.  They replaced the screen and it worked.   Service was quick (5 days)
