I have a stream 7 windows 8.1 and want to pass the audio and visual signal to an external monitor.
Can I plug the micro usb end of A micro usb - hdmi cable and the other end , the hdmi end , into the monitor to see an a good representation of the Stream 7 screen ?
What other options are there?
I do not need high powered audio and video. I want to use it to use MS Office .
Sincerely

Hey @HPbruce1 ,
Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you have questions about using an external display with your Stream 7 tablet.
The USB port is not able to be used as a display connection natively. There may be third party software available to allow display communication via USB, but this is not a feature the tablet comes with.
Some of the Stream 7 tablets appear to have support for Miracast. Miracast allows you to stream your screen to a Miracast capable display. If you have a TV or display that does not support Miracast, many devices like the Google Chromecast, Amazon Fire Stick, Roku, Western Digital TV Live, allow you to convert a standard TV into a smart TV and many of these devices feature Miracast.
Make sure the Stream 7 you have lists Miracast in its specs, and that you have a Miracast capable display or device that can receive the signal.
Hopefully this information helps! 🙂

Miracast will offer you a wireless, but unsynched video feed from your tablet. Fine for movies but wont works for games. You can use a USB to HDMI, better known as a USB VGA adapter, as the steam 7 will use third party usb adapters like like any other computer.
USB VGA will produce better results, BUT, so far you can't charge the tablet while using other usb devices.

Thanks for the reply.
I purchased a Microsoft wireless display adapter but when I set it up an error message appeared and it could not connect.
I am not sure what the problem is?
The Microsoft logo appears on the screen and the Steam 7 appear to try and connect with the TV but then an error appears saying it could not connect ?
Thanks for you suggestion. The Steam 7 seems to support miracasting but it goes through the routine of connecting, similar to a bluetooth connection, but an error appears.
The first time I tried to connect I knocked out my wireless network driver and has to reset it.
i am also using a bluetooth mouse and keyboard.
Any suggestions ?
Thanks

Can you please tell me the full model number of your tablet?
It may also help to contact Microsoft for support using the Miracast adapter, as I am not familiar with this hardware. As the owners, they are specialized in the Miracast technology.
