Try changing the encryption protocol for your AP/Router from Mixed AES/TKIP (the default) to TKIP only. It seems to have worked for me. I remember having the same problem with a few other devices. It seems AES encryption doesn't play nicely with some chipsets.

You just reminded me that I downloaded & ran the bluetooth driver from that site. What's your version of the realtek bluetooth uart? I forgot to check before I ran the update. TBH jury is still out for me on if this driver is better or not, I don't have that "wake up can't connect to things" issue anymore. Unfortunately where I'm staying this weekend has spotty wifi, so I can't tell if I'm getting disconnected because of my distance to the hotel ap or the driver hasn't made a difference. All I can say so far is I don't have that wake up issue, but from what you're saying it makes no diff so that's sad.

No improvement with the new driver for me. I'm living without Bluetooth for now until it gets fixed.

Total difference is "meh" so far. I don't have that wake up can't connect to anything issue anymore.

Keep me posted on if the driver helps or works any better that the current one. I'm doing an exchange on my tablet but if the new one also has problems and this driver fixes it, I'll update to it. Thanks!

Folks,
I'd like to add that I also have the HP Stream 11 laptop. It has a Realtek RTL8723BE. Everything works great on the laptop as far as internet/network is concerned.
One thing I noticed with my HP Stream 8 tablet is that the fastest download speed was around 3 Mbps whereas all my other computers, including the HP Stream 11, are around 4.5 Mbps. I have DSL with 5 Mbps.
I'm sending back the HP Stream 8 I have and shoudl get a replacment. Hopefully the new one will work.

Updated the Realtek Bluetooh UART driver with no improvement. If everything is ok with the same drivers on the stream 11, maybe it's just faulty hardware? I'm going to send mine back for an exchange I guess. I really like the device but I kinda want functional radios...

I have extremely slow download speeds, but no problems with the connection dropping.
it hasn't broken 200KB/S on my 20Mbps cable connection, this is absolutely pathetic. HP better be releaseing a fix soon.
EDIT: 99% of the time it is slower than dialup. This is rediculous, I am about to return this piece of crap and order the Insignia Win 8 tablet.

Everyone, I gave up and setup a return (order) with Amazon. I had an irritating day with this stream 7 constantly dropping wifi even after I reverted to original drivers. It wasn't my distance to the AP after all, I found out my traveling companion hasn't had any drops with their equipemt and stupid me, should have realized my phone didn't disconnect from the hotel WiFi at all.
Plus the stupid not charging past 80% issue came back. I REALLY wanted to like my Stream 7, I really did like it in the beginning but being HPs unpaid beta tester & QA tester, seems so wrong.
Good luck all, I hope the wifi connectivity works in the future, I hope it's a driver issue. I took a look at the toshiba encore mini 8" tablet at the MS store today, while it costs $40 more, it doesn't have the wifi drops, the buzzing headphone or charging issues. Guess what my after christmas purchase is going to be? (once I get refunded for this purchase)
