Hi Waseem,

The HP Team can't help, beyond suggesting driver / firmware fixeswhich don't resolve the problem. The only solution is to RMA the device and be issued with a replacement and hope that it is fromt he new batch of machines that don't have these issues. I am amazed that HP are still burying their head in the sand over this. I had to RMA 5 laptops before getting one that worked with no touchscreen issues - check my previous posts:

Hi There,

As per my above message

"It turns out that the problem was with that batch of machines. I received my 5th new Spectre and there are no ghost touch problems at all. I am delighted that i refused to tolerate the issue and was proactive in making sure that i was issued with a RMA for every faulty machine. If i had given up i would have been stuck with a malfuntioning unit. Never give up and don't listen to the tech's who say reinstall drivers, reset your machine etc. None of it made a difference to me. If it doen't work, send it back and get a replacement until you get one that works as it should! "

You need to contact HP Support, insist on a RMA and get it replaced. It might take a couple of try's, however keep doing this until you get one that works. I know it is frustrating, however it is the only way not to be stuck with a $2000 lemon! I would also take a video of it happening so thar you can prove the issue should you need to.

Good luck and be persistent!

Cheers

I am experiencing this "ghost tap" issue with my brand new x360 (13-4125nr), which I purchased directly from HP less than a month ago.  This unit replaced my previous one year old x360 (13-4101dx) that refused to charge, which I also purchased directly from HP, but was replaced under warranty.  Needless to say, I have not had much success with the x360.

I let support know I went through all of the troubleshooting steps noted in this, and many other, threads.  They offered to take the computer back for repair, but that would mean I would be without it for at least two weeks. (7-9 business days, plus order processing and transport time)  After being without my last x360 for more than a month due to parts availability, I do not think this is a viable option for me right now.

Support acknowledged that this was a "known issue to Engineering" and they would post a fix when it was available.  However, in looking around, it seems like this issue has been reported for nearly a year!  Does anyone believe that a fix is actually in the works?  Does anyone have any additional insight into a fix?

Thanks!

I also have this issue with a brand new HP Spectre. Ok out of the box, loaded a few basic programs onto it such as Dropbox, Google Drive, Microsoft Office 365, Teamviewer and the ghost touches started. I took it back to supplier and HP did some testing and updating of firmware on it and I took it home. Ghost touches commenced again the  very same day so I took the unit back and arranged an exchange.

The new unit is exactly the same which indicates to me it must be some sort of software or conflict issue relating to software that has been loaded. Given the cost of the unit it is very dissapointing. The only way to stop the issue once it starts is to sleep and relog in or restart. This is a big issue given the touches do activate whatever part of the screen they appear on which could start programs randomly or delete files etc.

I don't see the point in swapping for a new unit given it takes a day or so to set up the new machine which I can do without. The likely result would be the same anyway I would think.

A resolution would be much appreciated.

I'm having the exact same issue with a brand-new Spectre x360 model 13-4116dx purchased from Best Buy on Black Friday. Started on day 1 or 2 out of the box. The only software I had downloaded at that point was Google Chrome. The video posted by de-vries on 8/2/16 (youtube.com/watch?v=mmTBiUuBrI4) captures my issue perfectly. Ghost touches start without any trigger - e.g. when the computer's sitting open and untouched, and only stop when I reboot (which I'm able to do by quickly moving the mouse to the restart key between ghost touches). Happening every couple hours. I'm considering following Spyce72's advice and insisting on an RMA, but not looking to weeks without a laptop and no guarantee that the replacement will work...

I am experiencing this problem with my new Spectre x360.  Rapid ghost touches on the left side of the screen in one spot.  I have the power button configured to put the machine to sleep, so I just click the power button and restart and the problem goes away.

I am ok for now working this way--I really hope it turns out to be some sort of driver issue, as I would hate to RMA this machine and start all over installing software and such...

its been almost 2 months now and after having my Spectre repaired and fingers crossed did not see the ghost thouching issue again.

It however still worries me there are so many others with the same problem.

The strange thing is HP is the big missing contributor in this Forum.

It can not be there are only a few with this thing, especially because it seems to be global.

If it was software related it could have been repaired already, therefore its in my opinion hardware related.

Actually, I just discovered that by flipping my screen around briefly into tablet mode and back also killed the ghost touch--I am guessing both hardware and software things occur when you do this.  That's a lot easier to deal with than sleeping my computer.  It's still a little annoying, but I can work with this for now.

same problem here.  Brand new out of the box Pavilion X360 MX-u001dx.  Ghost touches yesterday but no real problem but this morning was a nightmare.  Had misfortune of ghost touch hovering over Outlook resulting in Outlook opening as many times as there were ghost touches.   Have a 2nd X360 under the xmas tree.  Since the forum has been discussing problem for a number of months and HP has no resolution, I'm taking both HP's back to Best Buy and getting Dells.  I should have stuck with Dell.

I called customer support and it was as if they hadn't heard of ghost touches.  His recommendation was to return the laptop to the store.

Never buying another HP laptop again.

Maybe I won't have to return those HP's.  Found a solution on Youtube that seems to work.   Turn off Fast Boot.  Link below.    Can others try please?
