elitepad 1000 G2
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

NEW facts:  now after diagnistics the quick memory test will not complete and simple reboots us back to windows did not start correctly and we circle around again.

apparently we do not have the admin codes to allow us to repairs even if we were the only users and had admin privileges in win 10. OUFF!! the HP tablets is special and requires more patience than I usually have.

any any directions will be apreciated   THX

Any suggestions will be apreciated cause right now I have a $1000. HP elitpad tablet that is not being used.

I cannot recover my Elitepad 1000 G2 , running win 10 64 bits ,  even when i choose a complete reinstal deleting all files. It tries and fails.

I do not have a recovery usb.

I have not tried a usb bootup as i do not have the windows 10 recovery and  i am afraid if I do I will have to purchase a new license as my windows 10 is a free upgrade from the original win 8.1.

I have tried all recovery options that are available as the system fails to boot.

what i am left to try is a usb recovery but I am not sure what media I should try since sadly i did not make a recovery usb drive when all worked well ( I will never do that again).

Thank you for you suggestions. I will try them all and report.

Hello Richard.

Im not sure why the HP diagnostics tool is not completing tests for memory. Is it only the mem test that does this or have you tried the other tests also?

You can also try Memtest86 (Free Version) and run it from a USB drive to test the memory with. That should complete the test without issue. MemTest86 - Download now!

I don't know what you mean by "we do not have the admin codes to allow us to repairs". Are you talking about the Bios Admin Password? If there is a Bios Password set on that Elitepad, you will have to contact HP Support directly for resetting that, as it takes an authorized tech to change that.

If you have an HP computer that was upgraded from 8.1 to 10, you can download a fresh copy of Win10 directly from Microsoft and make a USB installer via the Microsoft Media Creation Tool on another computer.

You have to download the correct version that was installed on your system for it to work.

Then during the install onto the Elitepad, if It asks for the activation key, choose to skip that and continue. It will activate once its finished and has to connect to the net for updates.

The fact that it Windows wont factory reset itself now is because you upgraded to Windows 10, thus the link to the HP recovery partition was broken.

Let me know if you have other questions and I will do my best to find an answer.

Also, if you clean install Win 10 from the Media Creation Tool, you will need to download and install the drivers for the Elitepad from this link...

I am stuck at the first screen asking to accept language and country. GRRRR!!!

Again,  any directions are appreciated...

Apologies, I did not get a notification that you responded.

I take it you dont have the keyboard dock.

In such case, you can use a USB docking adapter. Then connect a keyboard to finish the setup.

Here are a couple of alternatives...
