I am getting audible pops/clicks when I press play for an audio file. It is quite annoying and it also gives a jerky start to audio files.
I tried turning off Wi-Fi but it made no difference.
I think it might be that if the audio player "sleeps" if it does such a thing, as I notice that if I stop and start, or press the start again within 10 seconds, no clicks.
It is definitely something to do something in the audio part of the app - if it is inactive for about 10 seconds or more - it makes a click. Then when you try to restart an audio file, it clicks again. But will not click as long as the audio file is playing. If I leave an audio file to run its course and then do nothing for 10 seconds, it clicks "off" and then we repeat.
On some occasions the click is really noticeable, and can get quite loud (relatively)
Somehow the audio player is turning off if not being used and then "awakens" with the next song starting and it pops/clicks again. If I play one song after another with less than 10 seconds break, no problem.
However many of my songs have intros or the audio file does not start until a second verse for example, so 10 seconds is not really going to cut it! When I turn the PA up to gig levels the pop/click is really intrusivley loud!
Troubleshooting steps taken:
Tried various options in settings, but can not see anything that helps....I did find this though

If you scroll down a little bit you see the guy fixed it, but this level is WAY beyond me! hahah

Which audio player are you using?
Have you tried downloading another, or does this occur with every audio file (such as YouTube, etc.)?

every MP3 file. It is not the files as I have extensively tested on other devices and on PC. No clicks pops, nothing.
I wonder if the jack (on the Pro Slate) has some sort of "auto-sensing" attached to it to determine if it is a normal heaphone or one of those that can do voice as well, or a standard audio cable?
I can say that with actual headphones attached I can detect no noise. It is only when I connect an audio cable to go to FOH mixer. Again these same files used in a similar way present no issues when using other devices, even an iPad using the headphone jack.

Again, try another audio player.
When you play a video through the cable/mixer that contains audio, does it display the same symptoms?
We need to isolate this as either a hardware or software issue!

As I worte already I have already played thorugh different equipment!!! Several. NO issues. it is ONLY when using the hedphone jack of the Pro Slate.
Did you have a look at that link I posted? The gusy basically confirms what I am saying but he has found a fix. It is that level of programming is beyond me.
I reckon it is some sort of driver issue, as I get normal sound when using headphones. Not when using an audio cable. IE a mini-stereo jack to left and right cable. which is well, the standard way of doing things.
Not using video so it is irrelevant really. In any case video has nothing to do with the headphone jack. It is all audio files, even a WAV does the same.
The on board Pro Slate speaker (IE no cables plugged in to the headphone jack) does NOT have any noises and the sound of the file is fine!

That's not what I have been asking... "Equipment" is hardware. I've suggested trying another audio player - another Music app! There are many in the Play Store.
That link is showing how to re-write sound files. This offers no solution for you.
The way I see it, this is a hardware issue - either with the cable, jack, or the impedence to your equipment. Since everything works fine the way it was designed (headphones, speakers, etc.) there is little else I can offer.
Asking you to play a video with sound is another way to determine if the issue is software-related.
If your tablet is still in warranty, you can try contacting HP directly.

Good luck.

OK wrong choice of words...I tried three different players...two the app developer used/tried the android Player and VLC. Al the same...
I still reckon it has something to do with jack auto-sensing...I read somewhere (no idea where now) that the jacks have this to determine what is connected so the correct audio driver is used . ...viz a headphone with microphone.
Again I say there are NO pops/clicks after the initial one if I play the next audio file within 10 seconds. If I leave ti 10 seconds there is aother faint "click" as if something is either tuning off or shutting down. Then when I start a new audio file the pop is back.
If I play an audio file within 10 seconds of the lst one, no problems at all. So it CANNOT be a hardwrae issue otherwise it would happen all the time. And it is exactly ten seconds!!

Okay, so this is your way of saying it hs you stumped! Yeah you and me both m8!
Tried the HP support got nothing, just the automated reply on first lodgement. Why do you think I came here. This is a major investment (near $600 out here) and to have it have a crappy piece of hardware as tiny as an audio jack is big time disappointing.
Don't worry I'll be spreading the word about how crap this gear is!
Thanks and good lluck to you as well!!!
