slate 21 Pro recovery rom?

The update image has been posted on the support site for Slate 21 Pro.  Please note, these images are for updates for users that have an earlier version of software and have issues with receiving the Over the Air Update.  This will not restore your system back to the original shipping image.

Can we get a recovery image that brings the Slate 21 Pro to the factory level?  The last OTA security update casues a problem with the backlight.  The problem is well known if you google, but the backlight comes on during sleep.  This problem has existed for months and no new update to correct.  I downloaded and flashed the recover ROM posted to HP.com but it includes the buggy security update and I can confirm the problem still exists. 

This is an AWSOME piece of equipment but this one small bug is very frustrating.  The bug requires me to power down when I am done using the unit and power up when I am ready to use.

COWA you mentioned an recovory image has been posted for the Slate 21 Pro on the support website, but I can't find it there anywhere. When I select the Slate 21 Pro and click on downloads it ask what version of Windows I am running 😞

Can you post a link to the recovery image? 

I need to use it because I am one of the many people with Android 4.3 that get the 'verification failed' message when we download the 4.4 update.

They pulled the recovery ROM.  I might still have a copy, but beware ... the recovery ROM has the backlight bug in it.  If you update the ROM on your SLATE 21 pro the backlight will come on during sleep.  It is so bright it lights up the darkest of rooms.  I can't see how it would not also greatly reduce the life span of the backlight.  If I were you I'd be happy your unit did not get any updates and goes into sleep mode properly.

The drivers they have on the site are strictly for Windows to use the slate as a monitor.  This actually works well and I use mine unit as a monitor for a Windows PC, an android tablet, and a signal light for planes (when it goes into sleep and turns the backlight on full strength).

Yeah @cowsr4eating I saw the backlight bug, the sound driver bug, and of course you can't write to SD cards with 4.4.

I use it as a monitor for my HP Chromebox, which works great. If it is switched to be a monitor for an external device does the backlight bug still happen?

While 4.4 is problematic, 4.2/4.3 is so old and can't run current software. HP is so slow to release updates it could be 2017 before we see 5.0! So it would be nice to at least have the option to install 4.4 one day rather than have to abandon the Slate due to HP's frankly inept support for their products.

My HP Slate 21 pro has completely died on me out of nowhere. I can't do a wipe data/factory reset via recovery. It just spits out errors. Anybody have a copy of the update.zip referenced in this?

I'd like to update from SD card because I think the current firmware is corrupted. As others have said, the support page for this product is completely lacking.
