"All this occurred when i docked the tablet and used the audio out on the docking station"

That's just what happened to me paul_nz

I sent it back and they replaced the innards, so I can help with the solution if out of warrenty, but I think you are on the right lines. If it happens to others perhaps HP will fix it as a fault in the product/programing?

It's a drag to do, but if you changed to Windows 10 before the docking (like me), you might try reverting to the old windows?

yeah, it's been a drag.  Like you, they replaced everything.  Prior, I had factory restored with 8.1 at least 2 times.  Refreshed drivers multiple times.  Still no luck.  Back from repair and straight out of the box on 8.1, only one speaker worked. I tried refreshing/updating everything and also ran the Win 10 upgrade.  Still one speaker.

All the while, when running BIOS diagnostics, both speakers always work load and clear.

Its been a while since I posted. Still have the issue with the sound.

I did get HP to visit my workplace and look at the ElitePad the problem is the engineer went to the BIOS and checked the sound. The sound worked so he then mentioned that the issue is not with the ElitePad but with Windows.

Pretty tough to argue with that... but I'm not satisfied with that response as I have another ElitePad now and running exactly the same build and patches. But the sound works fine on the other ElitePad.

The one thing I am not going to try is putting headphones into the docking station as I believe that was the reason and when the sound stopped going through the speakers on the ElitePad.

Would really appreciate if someone could help with what went wrong with my ElitePad when I plugged headphones into the docking station.

Cheers,

Paul
