Welcome to HP Support Forums. 🙂 I came across your post and would like to help.

I understand that you have an HP Pavilion x2 detachable series laptop. I read that the webcam light is always on and would like to turn it off.

Ideally, when the webcam is in use the webcam light comes on. To provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Please let me know the exact product model no. This link will help you to find the model no: http://hp.care/2bygf7l
  • Did you launch any application to use the webcam?
  • Please try restarting the laptop and check if the webcam light turns off.
  • Close all programs that may be utilizing the webcam.

If the issue persists then please follow the below steps:

  • Go to Device Manager. >> Imaging Devices >> right-click and uninstall the webcam Driver >> Restart the PC.
  • If the webcam light continues to stay on then update the BIOS of the notebook.

I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. Let me know the outcome. Have a good day! 🙂
