HP Prime Graphing Calculator
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I'm trying to configure my new (purchased ~ 1 week ago) HP Prime for scientific or engineering notation and I'm finding that regardless of what mode I use it continually outputs values in standard format.

Take, for instance, the calculation 5e-6 * 2e3. I would expect the result to be 1.0e-2 or something similar. Instead, the calculator, without fail, gives 0.01. Switching to 'Scientific' or 'Engineering' modes in the CAS settings appears to do nothing. I have tried modifying the 'Simplify' and 'Exact' settings as well, with no success. Including calculations out to e-3 print out as 0.00xyzzz, which is a tedious and error-prone way of doing things.

I have reproduced the issue in the Virtual Calculator; the current CAS settings and examples are given below.

How do I correct the output so that these values display 4.37e7 and 1.00e-2, respectively?

Hello, and Welcome to the HP Support Community!

We used to have a dedicated Calculator section on this Forum, but it is being relocated.   Here's the standard reply that used to be on top of most of the pages here:

The HP Calculator Community Message Board is moving. While we prepare for the move, we are unable to accept new postings. During the move, you can look for help from other users by visiting https://www.hpmuseum.org/. Or if you need technical support for your calculator visit: https://www.hp.com/calculators.
