Operating System: Android 8.0 Oreo and older

I have an older HP7 tablet and I have lost/forgot the password.  I understand that I need to reset the tablet to factory specs. and I need to know how to do this.  I have tried holding the Power Button and the volume down button and holding the Power Button and the volume up button but this is not working.  Can someone tell me how to factory reset this tablet?  Thanks.

Also, I don't know version of Android is in the tablet.
