It is absolutely not acceptable to remove functionality that is critical to use of the device. We were told to raise this as a product feature request but not sure how to do that so hope this suffices.

Hello @NikiH ,

Welcome to the HP Poly community.

This is just a peer to peer community forum.

It would help if you could start by letting us know which Product you have and when, in your opinion, the feature was removed.

If no other volunteers reply, I suggest you contact the HP Support organization in your region. Details are in my Signature.

Best Regards

Steffen Baier

Sidetone not available in Polystudio for Blackwire 5220 - this feature was removed in the latest software update in PolyStudio.

It was raised in another area as an issue and the HP person in that one advised us to raise a feature request as, the more of us who do that, the more chance we have of having this function returned to the software. She did not however give a link to the particular group so my apologies if this is not the correct place to raise this.

I work in an organisation where most of the staff use these headsets for normal phone calls and Teams meetings and we'll all be shouting our heads off on the phone if this feature is not returned. It is not economically feasible to replace all the headsets with a different one that works properly.

@SteffenBaierUK It relates to an update to the PolyStudio software. I don't know when it happened as the software was only recently installed on my laptop by our Help Desk while trying to fix another issue.

As noted in my subsequent post, this issue was raised in another HP forum and we were advised to raise it as a product feature request but I don't where to do that. If you can provide a link to the appropriate place to do that I will add it.

Loss of sidetone support for Blackwire 5220 appears to be associated with the 226_0_0 device firmware update.

See: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/USB-Headsets/I-updated-the-firmware-to-226-0-0-and-shows-erratic/m-p/9... for instructions on downgrading the firmware to 224_0_0.

Please note that users may continue to receive notification of updated device firmware availability, and that could potentially lead to an unintended re-update to 226_0_0.

As a note to @NikiH:  Given that your organization has a fleet of Blackwire 5220 Headsets, you/they could perhaps look into whether HP's cloud-based management at https://lens.poly.com allows device firmware version to be locked down.  Almost certainly, some up-front setup work would be necessary.  I have not used the cloud management features personally.
