HP Compaq LA2405wg 24-inch Widescreen LCD Monitor
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

On December 6, I found that my monitor suddenly has a thin vertical red line about half a centimeter from the right side of the screen. As of December 20, it now also has a thin vertical green line about half a centimeter left of the vertical red line.

The problem occurs both with a desktop connected to DVI, and with a laptop connected to DisplayPort.

Factory reset does not help.

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/bph05236 "General troubleshooting tips for display quality issues" says "Permanent solid red, green, or blue lines that run across the screen. This indicates that a ground trace has broken: replace the display." I'm not sure whether that refers to vertical lines (like mine) or horizontal lines.

My monitor is a little less than 6 years old.

Does anyone recognize this problem, or have any suggestions as to what can be done to troubleshoot it further?

Is the monitor likely to just stop working soon, or if I can tolerate the lines might I be able to continue using it indefinitely?

Thanks.
