HP EliteBook x360 830
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi there,

I recently got my Hands on an EliteBook x360 830 for my studies.

Often I find myself working on an MS Word document and wanting to fill out a table that I've inserted or adding notes to a text by hand with my Bluetooth pen. Frustratingly the onscreen keyboard pops up automatically whenever I put my Hand on the screen, obscuring my view of the task at hand or messing up my layout.

I've searched multiple forums regarding the option of having the onscreen keyboard only pop up once the icon in the task bar has been tapped, as opposed to it toggling on automatically while using tablet mode but so far to no avail.

Another user had asked the exact same question in 2017 and was told to turn off the option  'Automatically show the touch keyboard in windowed apps when there's no keyboard attached to your deviceunder Settings > Devices > Typing but this option seems to be missing in my Settings (Windows 10, 64-bit). I'm only presented the option to enable/disable 'Show the touch keyboard when not in tablet mode and there's no physical keyboard attached' which doesn't address my problem. The post's second solution only is a small fix, since MS Word's full screen mode prevents me from having two documents in separate applications open at the same time.

Another thread had recommended turning off the 'Touch Keyboard and Handwriting Panel Service' entirely in Task Manager > Services. This somehow seems to not disable the touch keyboard as much as just my pen, which doesn't help either.

I'd be really grateful for any help with this problem!

Cheers
